PASI Knowledge Space Comes to Bekasi Regency, Promoting Animal Welfare and Cage-Free Eggs to PKK Mothers
Bekasi, June 6th, 2026 Perkumpulan Ayam Sejahtera Indonesia (PASI) continued their PASI Knowledge Spacean educational initiative aimed at raising public awareness and understanding of animal welfare, as well as introducing eggs produced through cage-free farming systems ..
PASI Knowledge Space is one of PASI’s initiatives to raise broader public awareness of animal welfare. The program uses an approach that is closely connected to everyday life, making animal welfare not only a topic discussed within the industry or among animal advocates, but also an issue that can be understood and appreciated by the wider community.
This time, PASI Knowledge Space took place at Perumahan Taman Alamanda Regency, Karang Satria, Kabupaten Bekasi, providing educational sessions for the members of PKK community of PKK RT 03 RW 21The activity was part of PASI’s ongoing efforts to broaden public awareness of animal welfare and highlight the connection between the welfare of laying hens and eggs consumed in everyday life
During the session, participants gained a better understanding of the basic principles of animal welfare, the living conditions of laying hens, and the cage-free farming system .refers to a housing system that does not use battery cages, allowing hens to move freely and express their natural behaviors.
The participants showed great enthusiasm throughout the session. The PKK members actively engaged with the sessions, participated in discussions, and raised a variety of questions. This was particularly meaningful as awareness of animal welfare and cage-free eggs in the local community remains relatively new. Most participants had previously assumed that all chicken eggs were essentially the same, while the difference was on specific product claims, such as omega-enriched eggs.
Through this initiative, PASI aims to broaden public perspectives by highlighting that differences between eggs are not only determined by their nutritional content or product claims but also by how the hens are raised and treated throughout their lives
