Perkumpulan Ayam Sejahtera Indonesia (PASI) once again launched its educational program titled “PASI Knowledge Space” as an effort to increase public understanding of animal welfare and cage-free egg farming systems. The program is designed for housewives, university students, and the general public. 

On April 10, PASI visited SMA At-Tijaarah Sukabumi as part of the implementation of the PASI Knowledge Space program. The event was attended by teachers, housewives, and several student representatives who enthusiastically participated in the educational and discussion sessions with the PASI team.

During the event, participants gained a better understanding of animal welfare. and the implementation of animal welfare standards in the livestock industry, particularly in laying hen farming. PASI also explained the natural behaviors of hens, such as perching, flapping their wings, foraging, and nesting, which are essential aspects in supporting a more humane and welfare-oriented living environment for the animals. 

In addition, participants were also introduced to the concept of cage-free eggs, which are produced through farming systems that do not use battery cages, allowing hens to have better mobility and express their natural behaviors more freely. This educational session aimed to raise public awareness that consumer choices can also contribute positively to animal welfare. 

The event was conducted interactively through a question-and-answer session between the participants and the PASI team. Participants actively asked questions about the welfare of laying hens, the differences between cage-free and conventional farming systems, as well as the benefits of cage-free eggs.
